HSE Offshore Medic Refresher CPD Folder

Description

Medipro have developed a unique refresher package consisting of a CPD folder which you complete within your 3 year qualified period (or start at what ever point you are within this period). This method has been born out of pure frustration from offshore medics by the difficulties often faced with the conventional 2 week course. Although a CPD folder isn't a new concept in the clinical world it is however, a new concept for Offshore Medics.

The main focus of the course is not only to achieve the HSE requirements but aid you (the clinician) to develop a professional portfolio of your achievements and aspirations at a time to suit you, as well as develop as a professional.

Once enrolled, we will provide you with your own CPD folder; this will ensure you keep all your documents and evidence as you progress through the package. Payment is also spread across the three years (or equal amounts until your renewal date) allowing you to spread your finances.

Duration

There is no set duration but the portfolio needs to be complete before the expiry date of your current certificate.

Syllabus

The syllabus is split into two elements; compulsory and optional.

Each student will need to complete the following elements by booking onto one of our courses listed throught each year:

* Pre Hospital Trauma Management (or equivalent RCS approved award as we will APEL this element)
* Advanced Life Support Skills (or equivalent Resus Council as we will APEL this element)
* Module 4 of our Distance Learning Option (statutory and mandatory elements)
* A student SWOT analysis
* A reflective piece
* A Patient Assessment essay

The last element is a 2 day placement organised by Medipro at a local A&E department to aid the refreshment of some practical skills. This is the point students will need to submit their CPD folder for approval.

Optional Element

We require each student to complete one of the following CPD courses. This can be your choice and at a time to suit you:

* Minor injuries and wound care (3 days)
* Clinical history taking and physical assessment (3 days)
* Pre hospital thrombolysis
* ECG recognition basic (2 days)
* ECG recognition advanced (2 days)
* MIMMS (3 days)
* POET (pre hospital obstetrics - 2 days)
* PHPLS (pre hospital paediatrics - 2 days)

All assessments will be done within the portfolio and courses you complete as well as within the placement at A&E.

Certification

After successful completion a HSE Offshore Medic certificate will be awarded, as well as individual certificates for the elements you complete

Cost

£1800.00 (Incl VAT). This cost will be paid in equal instalements across the period outstanding before your existing certificate expires.
