Description

This HSE Offshore Medic refresher course encompasses all the required elements from the HSE to guide you through a refresher process, utilising a distance learning option.

It is often very difficult for medics to get the required time off to complete their HSE Offshore Medic refresher course. This option utilises a distance learning approach to complete 5 modules which can be completed in your own time, at your own pace. It is possible to complete this course over a 1 to 6 six month period. Once all 5 modules have been completed satisfactorily you can attend one of our 2 day skills update and assessment programme to finalise your refresher process. Here you will refresh on all your practical skills which include:

* ALS
* Airway skills
* Patient Assessment
* IV, IO and fluids
* Wound care (suture, glue, quick clot, celox)
* Equipment familiarisation
* Trauma scenarios

All students will be given full support and guidance throughout the programme, which include new books and reading materials and online access to our resource libary for additional learning materials..

Syllabus

The HSE Offshore Medic Refresher - Distance Learning modules include:

* Module 1 (wounds, shock, extreme of temperatures, immersion and hyperbaric medicine
* Module 2 (eye injuries and conditions, burns, trauma, unconsciousness, maternity issues, poisons and overdose
* Module 3 (medical emergencies, acute abdomen, minor ailments, psychiatric conditions, patient assessment)
* Module 4 (drugs and pharmacology, health promotion, occupational health, record keeping, legislation)
* Module 5 (pre-hospital thrombolysis)

Certification

Following completion of the practical assessments a HSE Offshore Medic certificate will be awarded which is valid for 3 years.

Courses are run at our training centre which is in Stokesley, North Yorkshire which is in the North East of England. This is ideally located for students from across the Northern and Yorkshire region.
