Description

The IHCD is the awarding body (via Edexcel) for NHS ambulance trusts in the UK. It has also been accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This foundational and valuable course is designed for the immediate care and responses required in any emergency situation. It is the standard required for all community first responders, security and close protection officers.

ELCAS students can use their learning credits to fund this course.

Syllabus

The topics covered include:

The Pre-Hospital Environment
Primary survey
Patient Assessment (communication, examination and assessment)
Respiratory and Airway Management (OPA, BVM)
Suction
Oxygen delivery
Basic Life Support
Respiratory problems (asthma and hyperventilation)
Medical Emergencies (Diabetes, Stroke, Epilepsy and Unconscious)
Anaphylaxis
Angina and Heart Attack
AED (normal and abnormal heart rhythms)
Trauma Related Emergencies
Burns and Scalds
Bleeding and Shock
Assisting the Paramedic


Certification

After completing a written and practical assessment a certificate will be awarded from IHCD (Edexcel)

There are no pre-course requirements


Location

At our training site in Stokesley, North Yorkshire which is in North East England.
Or at your work site across the UK (minimum numbers apply)


Cost

£576.00 per person (includes VAT). Manuals are provided for pre course reading material
