IMCA Diver Medic Technician Refresher
Description
While offshore diving, there is a requirement that one member of a dive team who is not diving, other than a supervisor, should be trained in advanced first aid—generally referred to as a ‘diver medic’. This course is nationally accredited by the IMCA and is valid across the globe.
This is a very comprehensive and in depth course designed to refresh diver medics with the necessary skills and competence to manage all emergencies as they arise. The refresher course focuses very much on the practical application of their skills.

Casualty Handling Under Pressure
Care of Medical Equipment/Record Keeping
Diving Related Illness: Barotraumas, DCI, Decompression Illness
Advanced Life Support update
Control & Management of Dive Related Injury or Illness
Insertion of Chest Drain and needle decompression
Patient Examination
First Aid at Work Refresher Course (HSE)
Wound care
Intraosseous Infusion
Advanced airway management
Use of Defibrillator
Oxygen Administration
Certification
Interactive theoretical tuition combined with extensive practical sessions and assessments. After completion a valid IMCA certificate will be awarded.
Pre-Course Requirements
To qualify for the IMCA Diver Medic qualification, applicants must hold an offshore qualification in diving. This can be an LST, diving supervisor or diving qualification recognised by IMCA and a current valid IMCA Diver Medic certificate.
