Medical Gases

Description

This course is a comprehensive programme based on the necessary theory to enable the correct use of medical gases. This is specifically designed to enable the use to safely and competently use
oxygen and entonox appropriately. Although the medical gases course is predominantly theory there are practice elements too using the available gas units as well as your own on site equipment.

The Medical Gases course is designed to give uses the confidence in their safe clinical use. It is ideal for staff working in medical centres, emergency services including police response units, voluntary organisations and private ambulance staff.

Syllabus

The course content includes the following:

Oxygen theory (British Thoracic Society Guidelines)
CO2 retainer patients
Internal and external respiration
Oxygen safety, storage, indicators and contra indicators
Oxygen equipment and maintenance including various masks (facial and nasal)
Pulse Oximetry
Entonox theory
Entonox safety, storage, indicators and contra indicators
Entonox equipment and maintenance


Certification

No formal assessment is given but on going understanding will be taken by the instructor. A certificate will be given which is valid for 1 year


Pre-Course Requirements

Students need to have completed a first aid course prior to commencing the medical gases course


Location

At our training site in Stokesley, North Yorkshire which is in North East England.
Or at your work site across the UK (minimum numbers apply)
