Minor Injuries and Wound Care
Description
Due to the changes in the current climate of emergency care provision; Medipro Training have developed a course specifically designed as a ‘see and treat’ course. An ideal learning tool for Nurses, A&E Practitioners, Occupational Health, Prison staff, Ambulance Clinicians, Nurse led clinics and Offshore Medics.
It will equip students to competently assess and manage minor wounds and injuries and discharge at the point of contact.

Syllabus
This Minor Injuries and Wound Care course looks at the following subjects:
Overview of clinical examination and history taking skills
Mechanism of injury
Professional and legal implications of ‘autonomous practice’
Utilising PGD’s
Wound assessment and closure techniques including dressings, wound glue and sutures
Assessment and management of upper limb minor injuries including shoulder
Assessment and management of lower limb minor injuries including hip
Minor head and facial injuries
Head, neck and back (NICE guide lines)
Minor wounds and burns - including healing
Level of consciousness - Glasgow Coma Scale
Certification
Although there is no formal assessment students will be monitored throughout the course by our tutors and a certificate will be awarded upon completion
Pre-Course Requirements
Students need to be registered practitioners or have relevant experience before commencing this course
Location
At our training site in Stokesley, North Yorkshire which is in North East England.
Or at your work site across the UK (minimum numbers apply)
